Last night in Canberra, Field and Game Australia (FGA) and the Australian Deer Association (ADA) signed an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between thetwo organisations.
According to a press release from David Voss, National President of ADA, the ADA and FGA are the dominant voices for hunting, both politically and socially, across Australia. Both organisations have a proud history stretching back to the middle of the last century, and both stand out from other organisations due to our focus on game and our underlying conservation ethic.
“This is not a merger”, says Voss. “ADA and FGA both have strong and vibrant memberships and specific focuses on our particular passions (in ADA’s case, wild deer). This MoU is an expression of the maturity of the relationship between Australia’s two most important hunting organisations and of our mutual understanding of the challenges which lie ahead and of the forces which oppose us.”
The MoU cements ADA’s commitment to two great FGA initiatives; the Conservation & Hunting publication and the Australian National Hunting Archive. These initiatives are aimed at both celebrating our shared past and securing our collective future. The MoU also formalises a relationship and a co-operative spirit which has been present in practical terms for a half a century.
