Behind the scenes

For most of us, when purchasing a firearm, optics, ammunition and associated product, a simple trip to the gun shop and it’s all at your fingertips. Behind the scenes though, it’s our importers and distributors that actually make available the full range and hence, supply the gun shops.

One of Australia’s largest distributors, Highland Sports based in Moss Vale, N.S.W. who distribute product such as Howa Firearms, Miroku shotguns, Highland Ammunition, Nikko Stirling Optics, Sierra Bullets and lots of other well known brands has decided to concentrate its efforts overseas while still distributing the well known Ridgeline Clothing brand here in Australia. The new distributor for Highland’s extensive portfolio of product is now Outdoor Sporting Agencies based in Melbourne, Victoria.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit OSA’s new distribution centre in Melbourne and chat with director Danny Galea, who tells me that although it’s business as usual with the many agencies he currently has, the addition of new agencies such as Howa, Nikko Stirling, Miroku and more will be made available through gun shops Australia wide and marketed with the same-if not better- efforts Highland Sports offered in the past.

We wish them well.

Ruger’s M77 Scout Rifle “If you could only have one…”
