Remington Targetmaster Close-up

Remington Targetmaster .22 Rimfire

Q. Can you give me some information about a rifle that I want to return to the RSL who I bought it from in the early 70s. It’s a Remington Targetmaster single-shot bolt action in .22 LR with an assortment of peep sights. the tubular action and barrel are made in one piece. The rifle looks to be from the 1920s and is in a hand-made case. Apparently the RSL Cllubs used to hold shooting competitions with them in the old days. Hopefully, you can shed some light on its age etc.

John Malone

The Remington Model 41P Targetmaster was introduced in 1936 and discontinued in 1940. it is a takedown bolt-action single-shot, with 27 inch barrel, hooded bead front sight and peep rear. The pistol-grip stock is uncheckered. Variations are Model 41A with an open rear sight; and 41SB which had a smooth bore chambered only for .22 Short cartridge.
